The client
Move is a start-up company operating in the German cashless payment industry. Its mission is to provide a new perspective on financial management by creating a secure and seamless payment experience that enables individuals and companies to easily manage their transactions on the move.
The objective
Move wanted to switch to a microservices architecture, to develop faster and grow the product without losing reliability and security.
Challenges
The startup had started out with an external development team, but lacked the in-house technical expertise to fully understand the work being done, and promised releases kept arriving late. The core of the system, the APIs, was a Spring monolith that was hard to manage and evolve.
Development
The first step was the APIs: we broke the Spring monolith down into Nest.js microservices. We then assessed the skills of the developers who had worked on the project, to understand the technical choices made up to that point. From there we took over development with our own team, experienced in Nest.js, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Flutter and Angular.
Today the system runs on 10 microservices, 5 PostgreSQL databases and a RabbitMQ broker, with two mobile apps in Flutter and two web apps in Angular. We organised development in sprints, keeping a constant check on deadlines and product quality.
